Middle Delaware River
Between the Port Jervis and the Water Gap, the Delaware is full of opportunities for recreation. The 60-mile-long Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area includes many historic sites and recreational areas. The 500,000 acres were originally acquired for construction of the Tocks Island Dam, but the dam was canceled in the early 1960s after the land was acquired.
