Roxburg Branch Railroad Bridge
Railroad Bridge
Crossing of the Delaware by the Belvidere-Delaware Railroad (nicknamed the "Bel-Del"), which ran along the river and was built to carry coal from the Lehigh Valley to the Pennsylvania Railroad system. The Belvidere-Delaware Railroad operated from 1851 to 1871 along the eastern shore of the Delaware River. It connected Trenton, New Jersey to Belvidere, New Jersey and beyond. It was an important feeder line for the Lehigh Valley Railroad and the Central Railroad of New Jersey. It is now operated by the Belvidere & Delaware River Railway Company, a class III railroad and serves the Martins Creek Power Plant on the eastern side of the river.
