Egg Island Fish and Wildlife Area
River Access Point
This wildlife management area is a vast, windswept salt marsh, dotted with hummocks of cedar trees, bayberry bushes, sumac, and common reeds. Numerous tidal creeks await the explorer, crabber, or angler. There is a large pond in the middle of the tract, accessible only by boat, the wintering waterfowl find attractive. The Glades, a large tract of open space protected by Natural Lands Trust, borders the site.
The Egg Island WMA includes a boat ramp at Hansey Point with access to the tidal marshlands and the Delaware River. A valid boat ramp maintenance permit from the New Jersey Fish and Wildlife Division is required to use the boat ramp. The fee is $15 per year.
