Photo of Mongaup Trail

The Mongaup River Trail is an popular and easy hike that follows the Mongaup River from its confluence with the Delaware River upstream to an old cemetery. The trail is about two miles long and has minimal elevation gain, making it suitable for hikers of all levels. Along the way, you can enjoy the scenic views of the river, the forest, and the wildlife. The trail is also rich in history, as it passes by the ruins of a D&H (Delaware and Hudson) Canal sluice that was used to control water levels for the canal that ran along the river.. At the end of the trail, there is a 200-year-old cemetery that contains the graves of some of the early settlers of the area.
