Bayard, WV
West Virginia Town
Bayard is the largest town on the Upper Potomac above the Jennings Randolph Lake. It was incorporated in 1893 and named after Thomas F. Bayard, Senator from Delaware. Bayard was founded on the West Virginia Central and Pittsburgh Railroad as a coal mining community. The town's economy was based on the coal mining industry. The current population is approximately 250 people. The largest building in the town is the former Bayard National Bank.
