Photo of Big Run Park boat ramp

The Big Run boat ramp has access car-top boats to the Savage River Reservoir. The ramp has 25 parking spaces. It is located at the end of Big Run Road off New Germany Road. Lake levels vary throughout the year, so be aware that you may have to carry your boat several feet. Only electric motors or non-motorized boats are permitted. Gasoline motors must be removed before launching.

This boat ramp is located at the north end of Savage Reservoir in the Savage River State Forest. The reservoir is a 230-acre reservoir that provides fishing and paddling opportunities in a scenic, wilderness setting. Anglers enjoy fishing for catfish, trout, and bass. Depending on the season, visitors may see grouse, ducks, great blue herons, king fishers and minks.

The reservoir has three access points. Other access points are at Dry Run and the southern end of the reservoir near the Savage River Dam .
