Lilypons Water Gardens

Private Farm

blank dot

A private farm producing water lilies and other ornamental aquatic plants, Lilypons is a unique enterprise along the Monocacy. The owners claim to have the largest water lily farm in the world. The farm was originally called Three Springs Farm, but changed its name in 1935 to honor Lily Pons, the famous opera star of the 1930s, '40s, and '50s. A post office was opened at Lilypons to handle the mail orders, and the rest is history. Lilypons has more than 400 ponds, is open to the public, and has thousands of goldfish and plants on display, particularly in late spring and early summer.
