Cabin John
Maryland Town
The Maryland community located on the other side of the Cabin John Bridge from Glen Echo is the home of many artists and Potomac river lovers who cherish the town's isolation. The origin of the name "Cabin John" is somewhat uncertain. There is a story that someone by the name of "Captain John" or "John of the Cabin" occupied a log cabin along the creek. The old deeds of Montgomery County, Maryland, record the name of the creek as "Captain John," but the source is unknown.
