Hard Bargain Farm

Hard Bargain Farm is a 330-acre working farmstead with rolling hills, cropland, woodlands, and wetlands, located along the banks of the Potomac River in Accokeek, Maryland. The facility includes an overnight lodge, barnyard, pasture, hiking trails, and amphitheater. From the Farm's hilltop, guests are treated to a commanding view of the Nation's Capital, Virginia shoreline, Potomac River and Mount Vernon.
The site is the environmental education unit of the Alice Ferguson Foundation. Programs for elementary to middle school students are designed to promote understanding and stewardship of the natural resources in the Potomac River watershed and the legacy of farming in America. Courses at Hard Bargain Farm immerse students in various field studies involving fun and innovative hands-on activities and field investigations designed to engage all learning styles.
The farm also offers and extensive program of training for teachers and environmental education professionals.
Hard Bargain farm is not open the public. It is available for use by public/private schools and non-profit organizations through pre-scheduled appointment only.
