Bill's Place

Legendary bar and restaurant along the Paw Paw Bends of the Upper Potomac River. The spot is a popular stop for travelers on the Potomac as well as visitors to Green Ridge State Forest. It is located above the Fifteen Mile Creek access point at the Potomac River and canal towpath. Bill's offers canoe delivery and shuttles.

Bill's Place is named after Bill Schoenadel, a retired printer from the Cumberland Times-News who opened the location in the mid-1960s. Even though it was hard to find (or maybe because it was hard to find), it became a popular site with a bar, country food, and a tradition of nailing a dollar bill to the ceiling. When a fire destroyed the original building in 2000, Bill rebuilt it. Bill died at age 83 in 2013. Read Richard S.'s review of Bill's Place on Yelp
