A legendary site of crab shacks and seafood restaurants, Popes Creek flows only 3.4 miles through Charles Countuy before it meets the Potomac River near a large power plant. A railroad line was built in the 1850s from Baltimore to near the present-day power plant. Today the creek is close to the U.S. Route 301 crossing of the Potomac at the Harry Nice Bridge.
