WV 28 Canal Parkway Bridge at Cumberland, MD

North Branch Potomac River Highway Bridge

Canal Parkway is a road built along the C&O Canal to alleviate traffic problems in downtown Cumberland and South Cumberland, as well as provide an access road to the Cumberland Regional Airport in West Virginia. The parkway generally follows the Western Maryland Railway right-of-way. It includes a truss bridge over the C&O Canal as well as several large structures built to minimize impacts on the park and rail yard. The project was completed in 2001. The bridge connects Md. 61 to West Va. 28 at Wiley Ford.
