Bayard Bridge (closed)

North Branch Potomac River Bridge Site

Bayard Bridge crosses the North Branch Potomac from Grant County, West Virginia to Garrett County, Maryland. The bridge was built before 1900. It is a single through truss span, but because it is only 13 feet wide, it was closed by the state of Maryland in 1988. A campaign to replace the bridge was launched in the early 2000's.
