Route 9 Bridge, West Chesterfield
Connecticut River Bridge
The Route 9 Bridge, also known as the United States Navy Seabees Bridge, is a significant structure that spans the Connecticut River, connecting West Chesterfield, New Hampshire, and Brattleboro, Vermont. This steel, two-hinged arch bridge was built to replace an older bridge that was damaged by flooding. The bridge carries the Franklin Pierce Highway, which is part of New Hampshire Route 9, and connects to Vermont Route 9 on the Vermont side. The bridge plays a crucial role in facilitating transportation and commerce between the two states.
