Connecticut River Bridge
The Montague City Road bridge, also known as the General Pierce Bridge, is a historic steel truss road bridge that spans the Connecticut River between Greenfield and Montague, Massachusetts. The bridge was constructed in 1947 and carries both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. In the summer of 2021, the bridge underwent major repairs and was closed to vehicle traffic, but remained open for foot traffic. The repairs were completed ahead of schedule and the bridge fully reopened by the end of February 2023. The bridge is a significant landmark in the area and plays a vital role in connecting the communities of Greenfield and Montague.
