Interstate 91 Bridge
Connecticut River Bridge
The Interstate 91 Bridge, also known as the Dexter Coffin Bridge, is a significant crossing over the Connecticut River, connecting the towns of Windsor Locks and East Windsor, Connecticut. The bridge carries Interstate 91 and can be seen from the Windsor Locks Amtrak station. It was built in 1959 and is one of the few iron bridges erected in the United States before the end of the American Civil War. The bridge was recently under rehabilitation, which began on March 20, 2023, and is scheduled to be completed on November 18, 2024. The project consists of steel repairs within the superstructure and existing girders using cover plates and high-performance concrete, bearing replacement, joint replacement, deck repairs, and new pavement.
