Middletown is a city located in Middlesex County, Connecticut. It is situated along the Connecticut River, in the central part of the state, 16 miles south of Hartford. The Connecticut River is considered the single most important asset in Downtown Middletown. The riverfront holds the key to the long-term economic revitalization of the downtown. Middletown has an ambitious vision for waterfront redevelopment, which includes restaurants, entertainment venues, mixed-use housing, a four-season recreational park, and a pedestrian bridge that connects Main Street with the Connecticut River. This master plan for the riverfront redevelopment was adopted by the city in 2022.
