Connecticut River Bridge
The East Haddam Swing Bridge is a steel, movable truss bridge that crosses the Connecticut River between Haddam, Connecticut, and East Haddam, Connecticut. The bridge, which carries Route 82, is composed of three spans and has an average daily traffic of 11,600. It was first constructed in 1913 and has since undergone several restorations. At the time of its construction, it was reputed to be the longest swing bridge of its kind in the world. The bridge is currently undergoing a rehabilitation project, with the swing span expected to be open to marine traffic in late 2024.
